Waste Aware North East

Events and Campaigns

In an attempt to avoid clashing of dates and duplication of themes and topics we are pulling together a regional calendar of waste and resource efficiency events that will be based on the Waste Aware North East website. This will offer everyone in the region and nationally a clear picture of what is taking place in the North East around waste, recycling and resource efficiency.

We are also looking at other regional events that would offer a platform to spread the waste awareness message to the public. If you plan to attend any regional events with a waste themed stand or are running any road shows please let us know. Waste Aware North East aims to identify and attend with partners regional events and initiatives that can be used to reach the public with waste awareness and waste minimisation messages.

We look forward to hearing from you soon

BEn North East Regional Meeting
Date: 25th September 2009,
Time: 1.15 pm – 3 pm
Place: Stannington Village Hall

Northwoods is responsible in the North East of England for running the European-funded BEn project, which aims to support the biomass sector in the region.
During our meeting in September we would like to bring together local and regional stakeholders in the biomass sector to let us know how we can develop the BEn GIS support tool and a strategic regional Biomass Master Plan, to the best advantage of practitioners, policymakers and businesses in the region. We will also discuss the potential contribution of project BEn to the development of a regional biomass supply chain including the overall progress made in the BEn project and its relevance to public and private sector organisations.

As the organic waste is a significant energy resource, we would be very interested to hear the voice of the waste industry in regard to biomass related activities and the BEn project as well.

To give your comments or register your interest please contact Kasia on Katarzyna.zielewska@ruraldevelopment.org.uk
