The last two months have seen substantial progress for the North East Regional Sustainable Waste Board (RSWB) with Nikki Silcock starting her role as the RSWB Co-ordinator in June, and the recruitment process for the Chair now well underway with an announcement expected shortly.

 

The RSWB has been established to promote more sustainable use of resources and management of waste in the region, and to develop closer and stronger ties between the public and private sectors. Funded through private sector contributions, the Chair of the RSWB will have a crucial role in providing strategic leadership and acting as an ambassador for the Board, both within the North East and beyond.

 

Other recent progress includes the ongoing recruitment of members for both the Board and the supporting Stakeholder Group, which has been established to inform and implement the Board’s actions. The Stakeholder Group will meet again in mid-September with a view to setting the agenda for the first Board meeting.
