Welcome to the August issue of Waste Aware North East's Newsletter
Hello and welcome to our August Waste Aware North East newsletter.
The summer holiday period doesn't seem to have slowed the progress Waste Aware North East is making in developing projects and building ever stronger partnerships between the Public, Private and Community sectors.
We have been working hard to deliver projects across our four work streams, which will make a real difference to the North East's awareness of waste issues and resource efficiency.
We are excited about our partnership with Newcastle City Council, Northumberland County Council, North Tyneside Council, Durham County Council and WRAP to deliver a co-ordinated Love Food Hate Waste Campaign. We hope to create an effective working model that will be used for future partnership working in waste communications.
Our involvement in the RIEP Schools project is helping to develop teaching materials on waste awareness for all key stages. We are applying for funding to establish a Community Recycling Network for the North East, which will help to co-orindate community waste activities and the engagement with communities.
We were thrilled to receive continued support from Valpak who will work with us to deliver workshops and events to help the business community reduce their packaging waste and become more resource efficient.
I look forward to working with you all in the near future
Best wishes
Jo Bennison
Waste Aware North East Co-ordinator
